Here's the ruleset
Lineup:
Summoner: Delwyn Dragonscale
When we lost Alric from the starter deck, I turned to Delwyn. Delwyn costs 2 extra mana, but doesn't cost $100. Delwyn also has the benefit of allowing a magic buff for any splinter. It can be fun to surprise magic spam your opponent when only Dragon, Fire and Life splinters are available.
Tank: Unicorn Mustang
Pretty much goes without saying. This card is amazing. I was expecting magic on the other side, so void is great. If you end up facing something that isn't magic the speed may buy you some misses. The Mustang also hits hard.
1st position (backup tank): Void Dragon
This provides more void protection while I'm expecting magic on the other side. The combination of flying and speed are again excellent when you face something that isn't magic. The magic attack synergizes beautifully with Delwyn. Also, this was an earthquake ruleset.
2nd position: Queen Mycelia
The protect ability buys an extra hit or even 2 against anything that isn't magic for every member of your team. In the Earthquake ruleset it buys an extra turn for all of my creatures without flying.
3rd and 4th position: Wood Nymph and Goblin Psychic
Why just heal when you can double heal. These synergize so well with Obsidian or Delwyn. When I expect to face another magic team and most shots are coming to the front it gives another chance to heal the Mustang. A combined 5 damage and 6 healing per turn with their tank heal ability.
5th position: Chaos Dragon
So powerful! If you can rock your opponent for 10 damage per turn from one monster, I highly recommend it. Chaos dragon is not unbeatable, but it is so strong. This giant herkin dragon can also fly. I don't even need Brighton Bloom for the earthquake ruleset when there's enough mana to throw in the synergy of Delwyn with monsters that already fly.
Did my strategy work?
Yes, my opponent had a strong team, but mine would have been hard to beat here.
What will I try differently next time?
I might try the Regal Peryton if I get this same ruleset again. The Regal Peryton would have been an excellent replacement for Queen Mycelia or the Wood Nymph especially in the earthquake ruleset. I'm kind of surprised that my opponent didn't include this monster.
Do I like Goblin Psychic?
Yes, The Goblin Psychic when used with typical pairings deals 3 damage per turn and heals my tank for 3 life each turn. All of this for 6 mana! This may be the best common creature in all of Chaos Legion.
