Un buen día, una gran amiga que conozco desde que estudié en la universidad, me dice "quiero tener algo tejido por ti, quiero me hagas una muñeca para adornar mi cama". Y le dije, con todo gusto te la tejo. Así que me dispuse en primer lugar a diseñar cómo seria la muñeca, qué hilos usaría, cómo la vestiría y también como la peinaría. Esto de tejer muñecas es muy divertido, es una gran experiencia de tejido.

One day, a great friend that I have known since I studied at the university, told me "I want to have something knitted by you, I want you to make me a doll to decorate my bed". And I told her, I would be happy to knit it for you. So I set out first to design what the doll would look like, what yarns I would use, how I would dress her and also how I would do her hair. This doll knitting is a lot of fun, it's a great knitting experience.

Manos y brazos

La muñeca se va tejiendo por partes, por lo general comienzo por las manos. Tejer las manos es uno de los retos más grandes de este proyecto, ya que involucra el tejido de cada dedito por separado y luego se unen. Es maravilloso ver cuando se forma la mano con sus deditos, luego de tejer la mano se comienzan a tejer los brazos.

How did I start this adventure of knitting a doll?

Hands and arms

The doll is knitted in parts, I usually start with the hands. Knitting the hands is one of the biggest challenges of this project, as it involves knitting each finger separately and then joining them together. It is wonderful to see when the hand is formed with its little fingers, after weaving the hand we start weaving the arms.

Medias y piernas

Y seguimos avanzando en el tejido de la muñeca, le llegó el turno a las medias y piernas, para ello tejí primero las medias, las rellené de relleno sintético y luego tejí las piernas. Luego las medias pasaron a ser los zapatos de la muñeca.

Stockings and legs

And we continued advancing in the knitting of the doll, it was the turn of the stockings and legs, for this I knitted the stockings first, filled them with synthetic padding and then knitted the legs. Then the socks became the doll's shoes.

Cuerpo de la muñeca

Luego de unir las piernas, se tejen las caderas y el tronco. Luego de tejido el tronco se unen los brazos a tronco y finalmente se teje el cuello.

Body of the doll

After joining the legs, the hips and trunk are knitted. After the trunk is woven, the arms are joined to the trunk and finally the neck is woven.

Cabeza y bordar cejas, nariz y boca de la muñeca

Después de los tejer de las manos, el reto de darle expresión a la cara es para mí el que mas trabajo me da. En este caso, los ojos los coloqué justo cuando llevaba la mitad de la cabeza de tejida. Completé el tejido de la cabeza, luego la uní al cuerpo. Finalmente bordé nariz, cejas y la boca.

Head and embroidering the doll's eyebrows, nose and mouth

After the weaving of the hands, the challenge of giving expression to the face is for me the one that gives me the most work. In this case, I placed the eyes just when I had half of the head knitted. I completed the weaving of the head, then I joined it to the body. Finally I embroidered the nose, eyebrows and mouth.

Es el turno de colocar el cabello

Luego de haber cortado muchas hebras de hilo, incorporé en la cabeza con una aguja hebra a hebra hasta completar todo el cabello.

Vestir a la muñeca es de mis partes favoritas, es colocarle el outfit que va lucir, las muñecas tienen personalidad y ello va relacionado con el outfit.

Dressing the doll is one of my favorite parts, it's putting on the outfit she's going to wear, dolls have personality and it's related to the outfit.

Y seguimos vistiendo a la muñeca, la blusa fantasía

Como blusa, tejí una especie de top en combinación con la braga, me parece que este top le dio mucho brillo al outfit de la muñeca.

And we continue dressing the doll, the fantasy blouse.

As a blouse, I knitted a kind of top in combination with the panties, I think this top gave a lot of brightness to the doll's outfit.

Chalina

Para completar el outfit tejí una chalina, que la puede usar en el cuello en diferentes formas o en la cabeza. A mí me encanta como le luce en la cabeza.

Shawl.

To complete the outfit I knitted a scarf, which can be worn on the neck in different ways or on the head. I love the way it looks on her head.

Realizar una muñeca es un trabajo laborioso en donde se invierte una cantidad importante de tiempo, pero la satisfacción que queda después de realizarla es inexplicable y la satisfacción de ver los ojitos de quien la recibes es un momento luminoso.

Making a doll is a laborious job where a significant amount of time is invested, but the satisfaction that remains after making it is inexplicable and the satisfaction of seeing the eyes of the person who receives it is a luminous moment.
