I was up early this morning making myself some flapjacks (pancakes for those not in the know) when I saw this little fellow sitting on my garbage bag.
I wasn't sure of it's species, so I looked it up. To me it looks like the Asian Ladybug. Unlike the more common red ladybug who is quite docile, the Asian Ladybug is orange, aggressive and will bite you if disturbed.
Fun fact: This ladybug was purposely brought here from Asia in the late 1900s by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to "control agricultural pests, such as aphids and scale insects." They have since migrated all over the U.S.
