(This is day 2 of my 30 day self-provoked writing challenge enjoy :))

Social media has us all hooked like a fish. We constantly check our phones whenever the opportunity arises. People check their phones in the morning, afternoon, and stay up on them for a majority of their nights diminishing their time within the entire day. A cataclysm of events has led us to believe we need to keep up with 'streaks', and 'stories' which causes us to burn hours of our lives.

We're addicted. We spend our entire lives on the phone for a small reward of a tiny heart being pressed to give us a sense of reward that makes us feel 'accepted'. We've concluded our lives are successful based on the number of followers we have or the number of like's we've received but this is all just spiraling into a abyss of the digital world. While significant in it's accomplishments, we are unable to perceive the world around us because we're stuck in a 5 1/2 inch screen that encapsulates our life spans. We need to get off this addiction that's leading our society into wrongs by pushing everyone out due to jealousy and content.

It's fixable, instead of socializing on our phones all the time this can be traversed into spending time with the people around you at the mall, school, and work. In order to become a more connected society we need to disconnect. We need to understand the needs of those around us from experience not from notifications. While reading the news online is still a valid resource to better inform ourselves, the general population no longer care. We have the ultimate resource to obtain information and we no longer use it. Our society needs to better educate themselves, better develop and fight for the health of others. We can turn this into the most productive century because we're able to. Let us be known for what we did, not didn't do. Let's be more peaceful on the internet bring each other up not down. :) There's typically more to a story than we know let's not assume everyone's scenario.

Plugging in is useful, but don't forget we need to disconnect just as often.
