It is forbidden to give up
An unforgettable day for me, my family, friends and colleagues, December 10, 2022 a few months ago where I have reached one of my great goals, the satisfaction of having completed my studies at the prestigious Universidad Nacionale Experimental Francisco de Miranda, a day longed for by those I mentioned above especially my parents who were the driving force at all times to continue forward.
From the beginning it was a hard road where daily stones appeared on the road, adversities and I had to fight against them because if not, that day would not have come.
I remember that at the beginning of the career there was an introductory course where more than 500 people participated, starting the first semester with the same amount which made class schedules difficult because they were divided into several batches and sometimes we even had to listen to the class outside the classroom because of the small space, deteriorated university structures, damaged desks and a host of things that did not make it easy to see anything.
Thank God in 2013 my university career began in a first semester that was full of fear, uncertainties and many other things since medicine has always had a reputation of not being an easy career and that from the beginning the evaluations are strong, I heard comments from more advanced classmates and others who had repeated the subjects so the fear increased, more than 500 students entered and less than 100 of them we have graduated.
Every day of study counted to become what I am today, I thank my family for always being present and I hope that many of those who read this post are supported by people who really are at your side so they can never faint in their dreams.
I live in the city of Punto Fijo, Venezuela Falcon state but my studies were in the same state but the city of Coro about an hour's drive to reach the destination, at first everything was going well because I was residing but as time went by things were getting complicated as the economic situation was getting harder and harder and no longer had to pay a residence, I had to travel every day.
Those trips from one city to another at 5AM left me exhausted because I spent all day at the university, making long lines in the dining room, studying, walking from one side to another and then when I returned home at approximately 5-6 PM on the return trip a thousand things were going through my mind, one of them was to abandon the career because of the strong situation and start working in something else to earn money and continue studying but on the other hand I was thinking that it would be a mistake, my grades dropped a lot and that made me very sad, it was another reason why I wanted to leave the career.
Thank God for illuminating my path and never allow me to be dominated by those thoughts, some may wonder why I lasted so long studying if the medical career lasts 5 and a half years, even 6 years.
The university had many problems and were in continuous stoppages, I hope that any student reading this will serve as advice, go ahead no matter what is happening because what no one can never take away your professional merits, today I can proudly say that I am a good doctor who despite being graduated does not stop studying, I am doing my rural year in a pediatric hospital where every day you learn something new.
Let people help you because without them you will not feel the support and without a doubt it will always be necessary, even if you do not believe each one contributes a grain of sand even without realizing it, I have also had teachers who have seen my potential and when I was sad they themselves gave me words of encouragement.
I am fortunate to belong to the great Promotion 80 and have good classmates, this image is one of those that fills me with joy because after so many years of study I had the opportunity to present my degree work with my two colleagues.
A work that was done with great effort, from scratch, with many problems in its realization but that in the end gave the maximum qualification obtaining 20 points with both mentions, Honorary and Publication, the presentation was an indescribable moment in my career to be standing in front of 5 specialists and feel so sure of what I was doing, the truth is I have no words to describe it.
Knowing that the work done from all points of view has been a success fills you with satisfaction, but stop to think for a moment in so many years I had the doubt of abandoning the career, do you think it would have been right to have done it?
The answer is simply NO.
That December 10th I joined the professionals of my family, Mom and sister, and not only my joy was tremendous but also theirs at that moment when I received hugs, gifts and congratulations.
Today's reflection I want to focus on the fact that no matter the adversities or problems that come your way, if you are sure of what you are doing, nothing and no one can bring you down and slow as a turtle you will reach the goal, but a goal with great confidence in yourself.
A person who does not study no matter how talented he is in any of the things he does will always be missing something, knowledge and theory.
Never allow yourself to give up on your dreams because if you do you will be a loser and one more of the bunch who does not fight for what he wants and in this way I culminate with a question.
Are you willing to be a loser by giving up on your dreams?
