IN the morning, you're presented with all manner of POSSIBILITIES.
The early morning time gives you a head start and a decided edge. If your office opens at 9am, your colleagues who sleeps in till 8am has time for only a quick shower and a gulped coffee before showing up at work. If you get up at 6am, you can meditate, work out, do a nice job on your hair and makeup, and eat a real breakfast before clocking in. Who do you think is going to have a more relaxed and productive day?
The ranks of successful people are filled with early risers. Contemporary examples come from business, and spirituality. Historic early birds include Benjamin Franklin with the ditty "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise".
When you awaken, don't jump right out of bed. Lie there a minute of two. Be aware of the wisdom your soul wants to reveal to you in that delicate place between sleep and waking, when you're least resistant to this kind of guidance.
You owe yourself this gift of the first morning hours. Watch the sun come up. Walk barefoot in dewy grass. Inhale deep gulps of the air that, even in a big city, smells clean and pure at this time of day. Don't miss a minute of it.
