I think I may have dodged a bullet.
For quite some time now, I've had a growing (as in increasing) pain in JUST MY LOWER dentures, with very red places. I looked it up:
Denture stomatitis is the inflammation of the gum tissue that is covered by dentures and is caused by the bacteria Candida albicans (which is also responsible for oral thrush).
No white cheesy areas, just the red painful spots.
I probably just need to have my lowers adjusted and possibly lined.
HOWEVER, there were some oral antifungals referenced, the main one "Fluconazole" the VA says I am allergic to, but in that search, it mentioned Clotrimazole, which made me think of the sore throat spray, WHICH I'VE HAD FOR SEVERAL YEARS in my med kit.
I ordered some lozenges which should be here Monday, and am using the spray to reduce the pain until I try these other remedies.
Of course, I've been using warm salt water. Helps, but doesn't really help.
TMI this early in the morning?
