Innocence found, just as soon to be lost,
A day in the sun, a lifetime of frost
Trusting, imitating those that we see,
Adults that we copied, from guilt, we’re not free.
Our day in the sun, our innocence lost.
Tactile and fragile the games that we played,
Always seeking; insecure, we were frayed.
Groping and hoping, fumbling through unknown,
Time passed too quickly; suddenly we’re grown,
Then the sunset is upon us; too soon.
Where does the innocence go, at day’s end?
And the open hearts, as those of our friends?
The Spirit contains the blueprints, and then,
Innocence returns, to begin again.

Beach Kisses by Freda Nichols
Two young toddlers playing by the ocean steal a kiss,
just because it seems to be the thing to do.
