On October 16, 2026, Pluto stationed “direct” at approximately 3° Aquarius, ending its apparent retrograde motion. Astronomically, this is a regular planetary event. Astrologically, however, Pluto is associated with the destruction of established power structures, revolution, and profound transformation.

What makes this particularly fascinating is what happened during Pluto’s previous passage through Aquarius, approximately 1777–1798.

On July 14, 1789, French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille, challenging the authority of King Louis XVI. On September 21, 1792, France abolished its monarchy and established the First Republic. On January 21, 1793, Louis XVI was executed by guillotine.

The French Revolution fundamentally transformed the relationship between government and the governed. Financial crisis, taxation, inequality, widespread dissatisfaction, and distrust of the ruling establishment contributed to the upheaval.

Now consider France in October 2026.

France is experiencing some of its most serious civil unrest in years. Protesters have taken to the streets over rising living costs, deteriorating public services, and economic uncertainty. Demonstrations have escalated into riots, burning vehicles, damaged government buildings, and thousands of arrests.

President Emmanuel Macron faces mounting political pressure. France is struggling with substantial government debt, budgetary difficulties, parliamentary division, and declining public confidence.

And here is the remarkable coincidence.

Pluto has once again stationed direct in Aquarius, just as France experiences another period of extraordinary political and social unrest.

In traditional astrology, Aquarius symbolizes collective movements, challenges to established authority, and the restructuring of society. Pluto symbolizes the transformation of power.

During the previous passage, France witnessed the collapse of its monarchy. During the present passage, the French Republic faces renewed questions about governmental authority, economic inequality, and the relationship between its citizens and political institutions.

Does this mean another French Revolution is coming? Not necessarily. Pluto’s position has never been scientifically demonstrated to cause revolutions, and its apparent direct motion occurs regularly. Nor was Pluto continuously direct throughout the French Revolution.

Nevertheless, the historical comparison is intriguing.

Nearly 240 years ago, economic pressures and widespread dissatisfaction helped transform France’s political system. Today, similar categories of grievances are contributing to another period of national unrest.

History does not have to repeat itself for its warnings to remain relevant.

The real question is whether France’s political institutions can address the underlying economic and social grievances before those tensions deepen.

Whether one believes in astrology or considers these astronomical alignments nothing more than coincidence, the historical parallels are worth examining.

Pluto has returned to Aquarius. France is once again experiencing profound unrest. Is this merely coincidence, or are we witnessing another chapter in a much older historical pattern?
