“Distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. It is for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It is for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough.” - Anonymous
I totally agree with this. Long distance relationship is really hard. It takes enough courage to fight against the feeling of being too needy, too clingy and too childish. It requires more patience to wait for the right time to finally spend the moment together. It takes more trust to allow your partner to do everything they must do without hesitation and question. And it takes more love to work this kind of relationship. It takes more understanding of each other’s differences. It takes more acceptances on each other’s imperfections and missed events and occasions due to distance.
Long distance relationship may sometimes sound hilarious, but I believe it is one of the best relationships anyone can have. It will give you the strength to face challenges on your own physically. It will teach you to be strong enough for the both of you. You will learn to be patient in waiting for the moment that you both have been waiting for. You will learn to love your partner in a different and deeper manner. You will know to compensate and understand more of each other.
Long distance relationship is only for those brave ones who had built enough foundation that will never be broken. It is not easy; I personally know that it’s not. So what I’ve been doing is that I’ve been reading articles and been asking for insights from the people who had been or now having a long distance relationship. I am doing this to enlighten myself and to you guys who are also in a long distance relationship. This could possibly help you and your partner to have fewer arguments and complications during this kind of relationship.
Here are some of the useful tips that I had gathered from my resource persons and sites that could somehow help you if you're in a Long Distance Relationship or maybe you know somehow who are into this kind of relationship. So feel Free to resteem guys for the information of everybody.
1. Avoid Too Much Communication
The usual reason why couples have to suffer from a Long Distance Relationship is just basically a practical reason. People go to faraway places since there are more opportunities that are being offered there compared to their own places. So by that, it is expected that they have their own life, own activity, and own responsibility. Yes, communication is the key. But it doesn’t have to be too much. Updating each other is okay, but asking everything that they have been doing and asking too much of their time through texting and calling can also be a valid reason for arguments and complications. We should also give them the freedom to freely do their jobs and responsibility. Wait for their free time or off time on where you can ask how their days went and what they feel.
Marriage is a life-long commitment. You will face a lot of trials before and during the marriage. So if you can’t handle a Long Distance Relationship, then maybe it would also be hard for you to handle marriage with that person. It is an opportunity for you to grow and be yourselves and ready yourselves before you make each other as one.
Before having a relationship, it has to be clear between you and your partner the expectations you have for your relationship and for the future of it. The dos and don’ts should be clear between the two of you because anything that the other person will do which can surprise the partner in a good way or another can be a valid reason for a long distance relationship to fail. Avoid going to places that your partner doesn’t want you to be there. Avoid the people that your partner doesn’t want you to go with. In short, don’t do the things that your partner doesn’t want you to do so. Follow the Golden Rule to avoid complications.
Like what I said, communication is the key but it doesn’t have to be too much. It is better for you to know each other’s schedule for you to know when he is free and when he is busy.
You may inform your partner of the things that you’ve been doing. You may send pictures, videos, and even audio clips to inspire him/her.
Yes, it sounds awkward to me but they said that it somehow works. They said that Sexual Tensions is important in a relationship. It tightens the relationship that keeps it away from drifting apart. Sex is a physiological, biological and an emotional need too.
It is the highlight of every Long Distance Relationship. At last, the long wait will be over. You will finally see your partner. You will be able to do the things you’ve wanted to do. You will be able to tell everything to your partner face to face.
You are in a relationship because you see yourself with your partner in the future and not only for a short-term relationship. Set goals that would encourage you to do better and be better for your future.
8. Enjoy Your Time Alone With Your Friends And Family
It is not only you and your partner who is in this world. The world is too big to focus on one person and be sad because you are not physically together. You may be alone but you are not lonely.
Never tell white lies. Express what you feel. Tell him/her your problems, frustrations, dreams, and everything. Transparency could help the both of you grow.
Give an object to your partner for she and he can hold onto it whenever you are far away. A simple thing can mean a lot to your partner. It shows how much you want to be with them but situations dictate that you can still be together for the moment so that object would be his proxy wherein you can hug, kiss and cry everything out.
You have to be always positive about your relationship to keep it alive. It may be painful and lonely but we have to think for the brighter side. After a very long wait, all things would be worth it. Be thankful for everything you have especially the relationship you have with your partner.
“ The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart..” - Helen Keller
So that was my insights and tips for you to be ready and be courageous enough to fight for your love. He or she may be far or near, just make sure that you always express and show to that person your love. For as long as you still share the same sky, the same air, and the same water, then you are still together. Hold on to each other, believe in your love, trust God in His plans and everything shall fall into place.
