Hi Artbuddies and to all dearest Hiveans. How are you today? Hope everybody is doing great!
For today's content of mine is still about on what I love to do the most... my favorites content as always... Drawing/sketching.
On may past 2 contents, I shared the feeling of being unappreciated that broughts mini heartbreaks which every artist can experience and feel. That experience of mine turns into "art block".
What is art block?
According to google:
Artblock or Artist's Block means- an abstract term of when your motivation-well has run dry. You can't come up with any Ideas... Ultimately, an artist's block is when you utterly lack the motivation or inspiration engage on a creative activity.
And that's exactly what i felt before.
And based there also artblock can last for a week or two maximum--- but my mine is more than 2 weeks already hahah
That's why I think of what I can do and need to do to overcome this kind of sickness.
1st thing I tried is... I tried to join a contest (hahaha yah i ioined contest, lakas ng loob) That was my 1st ever exposure on contest, hmmm not that exposed coz it's done virtually. They call that contest ORC -One Reference Challenge. But i don't want to be competitive, I just join for me to try, and I want certificate hahah (oh diba? nakapagpractice na may certificate kapa). Nah just kidding but half meant haha but the really thing is I want to enjoy the process so I don't like to be competitive (para manalo matalo, importante natapos at may CERTIFICATE padin hahaha)
I will be glad to share my artwork on that ORC soon, coz now we are not permitted to post it anywhere until the ORC finished, and it's part of the rules and regulation. I don't want to post it here for now for me not to be disqualified. The ORC will be finished on last day of November, so maybe on December it can be posted. So keep on tuning. :)
2nd thing I tried to overcome my artblock is I keep on practicing though i felt lazy, that's why i do short practice only, just some part of the face like eyes, since eyes is my favorite part to draw. I downloaded eye picture for reference.
Downloaded reference
I made my practice more exciting. I challenge myself to use only one pencil in every drawing. Coz in doing portraits lots of pencils must used.
Mongol 2 pencil- I used to draw on the first eye. (it's just an ordinary pencil)
2b grade pencil on the second eye
8b grade pencil on the 3rd eye
The challenge here is how to balance the shade and how to make the dark parts dark since I'm using only one pencil. But I'm happy on the results.
On these 3 pencils i used, i noticed that the lighter one is more realistic than the darker, (What do you think?)
It's not yet finished coz I still have more eyes to draw and pencils to be try. I will share it again soon.
As of now I feel better than before, I'm not that much drained and blocked.
Okay that's all for now. Thanks for reading my sentiments. Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you so much! Salamat!
