🌿 Explorando en Familia la Reserva Ecológica Siboney-Juticí: Descubriendo la Cueva del Muerto 🦇✨/🌿 Exploring the Siboney-Juticí Ecological Reserve as a Family: Discovering Cueva del Muerto 🦇✨
¡Saludos, amigos de Hive! 💚
🚫 🔥 No encender fuego.
Greetings, Hive friends! 💚
Today I want to take you along with me through this post on one of our most beautiful family outings of the year. We decided to break out of the routine and take the girls to explore nature at the Siboney-Juticí Ecological Reserve.
Our hike began right at the entrance of the reserve. In the first photo, we took a moment next to the information sign to talk with the girls about the importance of protecting the area. The sign highlights the main rules of the protected area:
🚫 🔥 No lighting fires.
🚫 🗑️ No littering or disrupting the ecosystem.
🚫 🌿 Protect the local flora and fauna.
We set off on the hike surrounded by the characteristic coastal scrubland and limestone rock formations. After moving through the vegetation, we finally arrived at the imposing entrance of the Cueva del Muerto (Cave of the Dead). The refreshing cool air emanating from inside and the mystery surrounding the natural cavity instantly captured our attention.
Stepping inside the cave was like taking a trip back in time. Evidence of the island’s ancient Indigenous inhabitants is preserved on the rock walls. We showed the girls the cave paintings, explaining how they used natural pigments extracted from minerals and plants to capture their figures on the stone.
We took advantage of the tour to learn about the animals that inhabit these caves and their surroundings:
Bats: The undisputed kings of the cave's interior, essential for ecological balance.
Reptiles and nocturnal fauna: Small lizards, cave spiders, and insects adapted to the dim light.
Inside the cave, we were also able to hear and see several bird species native to the region.
It was a day filled with learning, outdoor exercise, and, above all, unforgettable moments alongside my husband and daughters.
