Just as the farmer patiently works the land in order to leave it in optimum conditions so that it can receive the seed and bear its fruits, our work in the hands of the Lord is to be laborers of souls. With words, from the hand of our Lord we reach the hearts of the people who read us, we prepare their souls to receive the Seed of Life, which is His Word and so that it will bear fruit in their lives.
As the wind carries a seed far from the tree of origin, without it knowing where it is going, so from the hand of the sweet Spirit of God our writings "fly" away from us without knowing where they are going, or in what heart they go to stay. We can rarely appreciate the true scope of our work. And how good it is! Because that is exactly the work of Our Lord, not ours. Our work, as Christian writers is, after: "Lord ... what do I tell the brothers?" To humbly deposit in their hands the words that arise from the reflection and from the depth of the heart, just as that child did well to leave in the hands of the Lord only five loaves and two fish to feed thousands.
That is why every time I read the comments that readers make about our work, I can say with joy and great emotion: "Lord, thank you. That word of praise from the sister in Bolivia, is yours, belongs to you. That brother from Guatemala, who felt comforted by being in a crisis without knowing what to do with her, also those words of gratitude are yours, Lord, I give them to you now ... and that other brother who thanked for the words of breath ... those graces are also yours, Lord ... they belong to you ... "
Beloved: if something good you have been able to appreciate through the words of these servants, that without a doubt, you owe it to the Lord and nothing but the Lord. He has shown it to you. He did it. Glory to God! Sometimes I have sent a message convinced that it has not been just "my most accomplished work" yet, once again the Lord has surprised me to see with amazement how he touched the heart of someone in some distant region of the world.
