Colonia Tovar - A unique and delicious outing [Esp-Eng]

​Hace unos días visitamos la Colonia Tovar unos amigos, mi esposo y yo. Tenía mucho más de diez años sin volver a la Colonia Tovar, así que, como una de mis amigas se iría por un tiempo a vivir a otro estado, decidimos que nuestra despedida sería allá. Y si me permiten adelantarme, fue una buena decisión porque las circunstancias de mi amiga cambiaron y tuvo que mudarse definitivamente, así que quedó este viaje como una linda despedida.

​El plan no surgió de la nada. La verdad es que tardamos varios meses organizándonos y planeando lo que íbamos a hacer cuando fuéramos. La verdad, toda esta preparación y planes no sirvieron de nada porque cuando llegamos allá fue que realmente decidimos qué era lo que íbamos a hacer e incluso el lugar en el que íbamos a comer, principalmente porque debido a los tours que hicimos terminamos tarde y ya nos estábamos muriendo un poco de hambre.

A few days ago, some friends, my husband, and I visited Colonia Tovar. It had been well over ten years since I’d last been to Colonia Tovar, so since one of my friends was moving to another state for a while, we decided to have our farewell there. And if I may jump ahead a bit, it was a good decision because my friend’s circumstances changed and she had to move permanently, so this trip ended up being a lovely farewell.

​The plan didn’t just come out of nowhere. The truth is, it took us several months to get organized and plan what we were going to do once we got there. Honestly, all that preparation and planning went to waste because it wasn’t until we arrived that we actually decided what we were going to do—and even where we were going to eat—mainly because the tours we took ran late and we were already starting to get a little hungry.

​En nuestra búsqueda por conseguir el lugar en el que íbamos a comer pasamos por diferentes sitios, pero debido a la hora y a que ya se nos hacía tarde para devolvernos, esta fue una tarea algo difícil, porque justo a esa hora, al igual que nosotros, muchas personas estaban buscando un lugar donde alimentarse. Así que los negocios estaban llenos de gente y los precios variaban bastante de un lugar a otro. Por lo general, los lugares económicos eran los que estaban más llenos.

​Pero estábamos decididos a conseguir un lugar donde comer, principalmente porque ya no aguantábamos el hambre. Así que caminamos un poco más y conseguimos un sitio que, aunque estaba lleno, nos dijeron que pronto se iba a desocupar una mesa. Así que allí nos quedamos. Para entrar no esperamos casi nada, fue bastante rápido felizmente. Y ya después de unos minutos nos estaban preguntando qué era lo que íbamos a pedir.

​As we searched for a place to eat, we passed by several different spots, but because of the time of day and the fact that it was already getting late for us to head back, this proved to be a somewhat difficult task—because at that very hour, just like us, many people were looking for a place to eat. So the restaurants were packed, and prices varied quite a bit from one place to another. Generally speaking, the cheaper places were the ones that were the most crowded.

But we were determined to find a place to eat, mainly because we couldn’t stand the hunger anymore. So we walked a little further and found a place that, although it was full, told us a table would be available soon. So we stayed there. We didn’t have to wait long to get in—fortunately, it was pretty quick. And after just a few minutes, they were asking us what we wanted to order.

​Los precios estuvieron accesibles y la comida debo decir que estaba increíblemente deliciosa. Como éramos varios, pedimos diferentes cosas y, como todo buen grupo de amigos, compartimos de cada cosa para que todos probáramos las diferentes comidas. Mis cosas favoritas fueron una pizza y esta parrilla tan deliciosa que claramente incluía salchicha alemana y polaca. Todo estuvo muy bueno y lo mejor es que quedamos súper satisfechos y un poco más que eso.

​De todas las actividades de ese día, el comer en este lugar una comida tan bien hecha fue de las mejores cosas que pasaron en el día, porque siempre es genial y te causa mucha alegría gastar dinero en comida que sí vale totalmente la pena. Pero más allá de eso, no fue solo la comida sino la experiencia en el lugar. Era un sitio bonito, bastante al estilo de la Colonia Tovar, pero también con un buen ambiente y, a pesar de que estaba lleno de personas, había espacio suficiente para caminar libremente y sentarse en la mesa.

​Este es un sitio que 100% me gustaría volver a visitar. Todavía puedo saborear un poco esa parrilla tan espectacular y también la pizza hecha a leña. Lo que me parece triste de todo es que no es uno de esos sitios a los que uno suele ir seguido, por lo que, para poder probar esta rica comida, es necesario hacer todo un viaje completo. Sin embargo, sin duda alguna, este es un lugar que visitaré para comer al momento de volver a la Colonia Tovar.

The prices were reasonable, and I have to say the food was incredibly delicious. Since there were several of us, we ordered different things, and—like any good group of friends—we shared everything so we could all try the different dishes. My favorites were a pizza and this delicious grilled platter that definitely included German and Polish sausages. Everything was really good, and the best part is that we were super satisfied—and then some.

Of all the activities that day, eating such a well-prepared meal at this place was one of the best things that happened, because it’s always great and brings you so much joy to spend money on food that’s totally worth it. But beyond that, it wasn’t just the food—it was the whole experience there. It was a beautiful place, quite in the style of Colonia Tovar, but also with a great atmosphere, and even though it was packed with people, there was plenty of room to walk around freely and sit at a table.

This is a place I’d 100% love to visit again. I can still savor the taste of that spectacular grilled meat and the wood-fired pizza. What I find sad about it all is that it’s not the kind of place you usually go to often, so to enjoy this delicious food, you have to make a whole trip just for it. However, without a doubt, this is a place I’ll visit for a meal the next time I return to Colonia Tovar.
