Hello everyone, today I will invite you to join me on another journey through history within the Kalemegdan, Belgrade park and fortress. When you walk through this park like I did a few days ago, in every corner you can see something interesting that will catch your attention.
After visiting the exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci's machines, that I wrote about in my previous post I continued my walk and passed through the Stambol Gate, located in the Upper town of the Belgrade Fortress. And that's when I came across the board "journey to the Middle Ages".
I thought this might be interesting and went inside and got a peek into medieval knightly life. Inside, an exhibition was organized by a local association that aims to preserve Serbian tradition and history from oblivion.
It was amazing to see the knightly suits of medieval Serbian heroes and rulers.
I liked the colors of the medieval suits, they looked very classy.
There was a lot of knightly gear on display.
Serbian medieval knights are said to have been great, honorable people who aspired to help everyone in need without any expectations, freed from material interests. They were brave and powerful, awe-inspiring, and they lived for glory, to be known for their good deeds, for which they often sacrificed their lives. Their weapons bear witness to wartime when fighting was the only way to achieve justice. Or perhaps injustice, due to the loss of a large number of lives. When it comes to weapons, there were swords, sabers and arrows.
And other interesting items like candle and feather for writing.
Or a summoning horn.
I looked out the window and for a moment I felt like I had traveled back in time. You could indeed feel the medieval spirit at the exhibition.
I could imagine rulers sitting on their thrones, commanding and making decisions that change other people's lives.
Those were simple lives, when happiness was found in the little things and you were thankful for every day you live. Interesting social games made from natural materials were played.
The Middle Ages was a period of great cultural and artistic achievements. The symbol of this time was the table, which was not only used for dining, but also for socializing and various kinds of gatherings.
A rich table meant power and a beautiful life. And we can all agree that it hasn't changed much to this day.
