This morning began again at 0440, we breakfasted, prepared out hotboxes and then off we went on a game drive. It was a fantastic drive, we saw loads, zebra, giraffe (including two very young ones), wildebeest, waterbuck, baboon, jackal and a mother warthog with four babies. The mother had an injured leg which was quite sad, but that’s the circle of life I guess.

We also saw so many birds, including a black chested snake eagle, a heron and Egyptian geese, amongst others.

We saw a variety of different tracks and ‘examined’ a variety of different dung too! It was so interesting to see how much life there was in a pile of giraffe dung!

During our phuza (drinks) stop, Ben told us about buffalo and how much they cost. A female can cost up to 3 million rand and recently a male sold for 42 million rand!!

The scenery was stunning, as is to be expected. The sky was as blue as you could ever want, not a cloud in sight, the crazy number of shades of green and the stunning soil, which in places was almost orange. Such a beautiful place to call the ‘office’ – we’re truly privileged.

We drove back to camp and arrived just before brunch, which today was mince and potato with vetkoeks, which are basically just deep fried dough balls, and are just like boku boku from Madagascar, but minus the chocolate in the middle. They were so good!

After lunch we had a quick question and answer session before our exam tomorrow and then we spent the afternoon revising, splashing about in the pool, reading and trying not to melt (it’s been absolutely scorching!).

Dinner today was salad and a pasta bake, yummy as usual. After dinner we all headed back up to the classroom to finish revising for tomorrow. Then it was time for bed.
