Wall Street

One of the films I have that I watch from time to time, I do enjoy it. The storyline in short is about a young stock broker (Charlie Sheen) whom wants the big money and idolizes one of the major players on Wall street (Michael Douglas).

Charlie after a period of time finally manages to get into Michael's office and see him for five minutes, at this initial meeting Michael pushes Charlie for some information no one else has, I.e. insider knowledge. This meeting ultimately results in Michael teaching Charlie "how the game is played", although they way he plays it is not legal.

I do find it very interesting that some of the statements made in the film back in 1987 are applicable today. I.e. The only thing that has changed are some of dollar amounts. Not the attitudes, or the situations.

In case you weren't aware it was this movie that introduced the term "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good" this has been shortened over the years to "greed is good". A few other quotes from the movie are ".....if you need a friend, get a dog", and "The most valuable commodity I know of . . . is information".

So in short I do like the film, the way it explores the temptation of making fast money, lots of it, and what some people are prepared to do to get it.
