Crystal shards cover ancient white trees.
Black droplets dribble from broken autumn leaves.
Windswept barren wasteland; in frosted mug my pint.
Five strong around the table now and we were eight last night.

Heat rise; sorrow fall, nothing left to say.
Your last breath is in my soul, I feel it every day.
Empty hand held upwards, I reach for you again.
Whispering I love you against the winter's wind.
Shadows cover all the land, I swear to make things right.
Fearing not the darkness now, I rage against the night.
The Night Horde is a dream I had. Originally I planned to turn it into a short story but I think it works pretty well as a poem like this. I hope you will leave comments and feedback. I'm always looking to improve my writing.
