The ball was around the corner, I have to put in more effort in the decorations. I and Mrs Mira got the contract for decorating for the Gonzalez family. It's an all white mask ball party to celebrate the success of the young master,Gideon Gonzalez. The ball is tomorrow as Mr Tate, Gideon's father came to see the process of the decorations. The requisite candelabras through the ceiling, the entrance decorations were all black, the lighting was evenly distributed, the enchanted feather table decorations gave it an exclusive attraction as he nodded to every masterpiece.

We slowly moved round the hall to ensure everything was in order and with the look on his face I bet he liked it. I was wondering what I was going to wear for the ball, I guess I was going to figure out something. After work I went to see James, I needed to end this, it feels so suffocating. James is a good guy, he's been all caring and loving ever since we started dating but I don't feel it anymore, I guess I'm more into Gideon. I dial Gideon's number, it rang and nobody picked up as I couldn't wait for it to ring all out before searching for lorena's number, my bestfriend and Gideon's sister.

"Hey, wassup Emily"

"I'm good"

"I broke up with James" there was silent for a while before she finally spoke up.

"I know you're a strong girl and super proud of you for gathering such courage to do so"

I listened carefully to what she said, she was the one that encouraged me to do so, I don't know how James took it in but all he said to me after the breakup was.

"Thank you for telling me how you feel, I'm grateful you didn't pretend" just that he stood up and walked away. I still feel a twist within but l'm grateful I let him go it was like a heavy burden left my shoulder

"You need to tell him Emily," I could hear Lorena voice over the phone jotting me back from my memory.

"You need to let it go," she said once more. I raised my face looking at nothing in particular but staring at a particular place, tears streaming down my face.

"It's not as easy as you think, how do you expect me to tell Gideon that the girl that played him three years ago is the same girl he is falling for over again"

"I watched my brother get hurt because of you, three years ago. Just like that he went missing for two days, we tried his number but couldn't reach and when he returned he changed, everything about him changed, his hairstyles, he acted cold, the things he loved so much he ditch them, we knew something was up but couldn't place it"

"If you don't tell him,I will myself"

"Nobody dares hurt my brother, not even you have the right '' she said with a harsh tone. I could feel my temperature rising, my finger was shaking and I could feel sweat forming at the back of my head, I was becoming nervous. Then I heard a male voice over the phone.

"What?"

I checked my phone, it was Gideon, he had been listening all this while,my blood pressure increased,I could feel my heartbeat beating so fast as I could hear it vividly. The call dropped, I was pacing from one corner to the other like a pregnant woman, thousands of thoughts ran through my head causing me a migraine. How will I face him? What will I tell him? I placed my hands on my head. He shouldn't have heard it that way. I picked my purse and rushed over to his house but he shut the door and didn't give me any listening ear. I was devastated, the ball was tomorrow but couldn't afford to miss it.

Was I scared of missing the ball or was I scared of how to explain myself to Gideon?

As I entered the hall where the ball was supposed to take place, everyone was seated and chatting with friends, it was an all white ball party and everyone was masked.

I matched forward with confidence, something was up and I bet I was going to do something tonight. The party started with light music and dance. Everyone chooses their own partner and exchanges one partner to the other. I wasn't good at dancing but my earlier practice with Gideon made a way. Dancing with my first partner, I mistakenly stepped on him to show how bad I was with dancing, I immediately apologized before exchanging with the next person.

I recognized him though masked but it was him, his cologne filled my nose. His soft hands gilded me as we danced like two different strangers. From the peek of my mask, I looked into his eyes, it was cold and weary. I opened up the memory he shut out. After the dance I sneaked into the backstage as I begged the host for 10 minutes.

I was on the stage as I looked through the crowd, everyone chatting their life out, a waiter passed by as I signalled for a glass. I hit the glass to get the attention of my audience.

"Can I have your attention" slowly everywhere was quiet like a graveyard, I looked through the crowd, tension gripped me as I could feel my hands were sweaty. I removed my mask, closed my eyes and opened it once more, refilling my confidence, then I hit it.

I spoke continuously about what happened between me and Gideon, those close to us will know who I was talking about but I was driving somewhere reconciliation. I held the mic closely.

"Call me wicked, I don't care. I was selfish once more in my life, to whom it may concern, I know you can hear me but I want you to know that I regret everything, I regret everything that happened that day, it wasn't my intention to play you. I felt less of myself but have to live with this guilt. The heavy burden all my life, from a distance I watched you read the letter I gave to the waiter to give to you. It was our first time meeting as we have been dating online for a while. I'm full of regret as you turned around to see me but I wasn't there. I want you to know that it wasn't my intention to play you. I'm very sorry and I want you to know that I still love you"

There was murmur from the crowd, but I cared less. All I cared about was that my message had been passed down.

I heard footsteps come forward, it was him, his broad shoulders, his intimidating height, he matched forward towards me, my heart raced, it seemed I was gasping for air. He removed his masks, truly it was him. He knelt down and I couldn't comprehend his actions. He should be mad that I stole the highlight of the event. All eyes were on us as the crowd murmured.

"For the first time I saw you, I knew you were the one, I lost you before and can't afford to loose you again"

"Will you marry me Emily?" I exclaimed, what? I was bound to cry and laugh, but I was doing that at the same time.

"Yes I will" there was a heavy applude from the crowd as I hugged the love of my life.
