Fawaka Steemians and DTubers,
Today has been a fun day, as a Retweet by Gary Vaynerchuck had part Vaynernation popping in my notifications non-stop on Twitter.
For those that have no idea what the last sentence means, a quick explanation:
The (somewhat) forgotten platform, great for short 140… 280 character messages and stories. Once considered one of the 3 biggest Social Media channels.
Entrepreneur with cult-like super powers and millions of followers across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.
Gary’s loyal fanbase that bought all of his shoes within the first 24 hours after the launch. Not a fanbase that just likes, but also acts accordingly.
So, today, a random tweet with no intention to get GaryVee’s attention, just one of his quotes with a reminder that his book launched today, received 70.000 impressions, 40 retweets and 230 likes in 10 hours time.
For someone that gets relatively limited interaction on a daily basis (1-10 likes/retweets), this was unfamiliar territory. I fully believe it was a result of spontaneous authenticity. Or is it authentic spontaneity?
Disclaimer: The term viral is relative. Celebrities reach this amount of engagement on a daily basis. For accounts that are a little smaller and have a couple of interactions per tweet, tweets generating over tenths, hundreds or thousands times the regular reach and/or engagement can be considered viral.
