So I've been trying out making my own casting with Easycast epoxy resin. But it seems every time I try, it cures to this sticky, stretchy like substance instead of becoming hard like plastic.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing wrong here. I try my best to measure the resin and the hardener to a tee. I mix it thoroughly while scraping the sides. I even use multiple measuring cups to pour and mix the substances.
I want my castings to be a deep pink color. I've heard that using ink from a ballpoint pen works alright, so I tried that. The only issues I could think of are either the ink messed up the resin somehow, it's reacting to the silicone mold I put it in, or it's the temperature of the room it's in.
One casting I had in my garage. However it was constantly raining for a few days, so suspect the humidity ruined it. Another one I'm casting in my kitchen. I have fans circulating cool air from my air conditioner around the house, only one fan blows into the kitchen. Even then, I have my casting in a corner far from where the fan is hitting. But I have my worries that the temperature might be too cool for it to cure fully...
I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and what solutions I can use. If anyone out there has experience with epoxy, any advice would be very much appreciated! I'm kinda at the end of my rope here.
