Returning to the stories after a long season without inspiration and after experimenting with the genres of horror, science fiction, Nordic mythology and humor, now, I have decided to try another type of stories. Taking advantage of the fact that we are in February, known as the month of love, I have prepared this little story.
Inspired by events that may be happening right now somewhere in the world.

Dear passengers, please prepare for landing at the Reina Sofia airport on the island of Tenerife...
The voice of the cabin crew member indicating arrival at their destination woke Sebastian up. It was customary on every trip to fall asleep as soon as the journey began, whether by land or by air, it was inevitable that he would fall asleep, it was a defense mechanism of his body, for fear that something might happen during the trip.
Sebastian hated take-off and landing, they were the most uncomfortable moments of traveling by plane, the nerves took over his mind. They were minutes of anxiety, but this time he didn't feel the same discomfort as before. Now, the nerves had another cause.
He had known her for a year. He was a partner in a marketing company and, because of the pandemic, all work began to be done over the Internet. He was assigned a new client, which at first he didn't want to accept, but at the last moment, something pushed him to accept to handle the new account.
It was the best decision he made and he always remembers the first day he communicated with the person who was the liaison with the company in Tenerife. Everything was done through a direct chat on the company's platform, what at the beginning were only purely commercial conversations, soon turned into long chats, where they both got to know each other, establishing a relationship that quickly crossed professional lines.
During all that time, I had only seen her in a few photographs and a couple of short videos. He refrained from making a video call, he was no longer the young man who once radiated friendliness, the years had passed too quickly and he felt insecure about the passage of time. Twelve years difference may not seem like much, but not for Sebastian, who felt his heart beating faster, not because at that moment he was landing the plane, but because in a few minutes he would be in front of the woman who had knocked down the self-imposed wall in his heart.
For a moment the nerves were so great that he thought of buying a return ticket immediately. He had only known her all this time through a screen and a keyboard. What if she was a serial killer? The wildest thoughts ran through his paranoid mind. But it was only for a few seconds, it was fear that made him imagine nonsense. He quickly came to his senses, he was already in Tenerife, it had been many hours of flight from his native country and he had to gather his courage and finally meet her in person.
She
Amanda seemed to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She was just finishing getting dressed, everything she wore seemed to fit her wrong. It was getting late and the drive from her house to the airport was over 20 minutes.
Her friend and co-worker was waiting for her in the car. Amanda's driver's license had expired, so she had to ask her best friend, Giselle, to drive her to the airport.
On the way, Giselle kept reproaching her for what she was doing, never telling her that she had met Sebastian through the company's work platform. Her friend only wanted to protect her, although she explained that they had a year of communication, for Giselle it was something she could not understand.
Amanda was looking out the window at the landscape, her friend was still talking, but she stopped listening to her. She was nervous and at the same time felt a great emotion, remembering all the conversations with Sebastian. For a long time she tried to find a logical explanation of how everything had happened, but she reached a point where she decided to give up and not look for an explanation, just let herself go by what her brain - heart dictated.
She also felt a bit insecure, she had only been sent some pictures a couple of months ago. She liked him, but he was really still a stranger, even if they told each other their whole lives, it wasn't the same as meeting in person. But she was willing to overcome her fear, she felt she had to give herself a chance. Besides, he had been very clear, that if she changed her mind, he would respect her decision.
They parked the car and he walked into the airport. Amanda stopped hearing the noise of people coming and going, the world seemed to stop around her, as if in slow motion, her breathing seemed labored and she could hear her heart beating.

The encounter
He was at the place agreed upon through WS messages. He saw her approach accompanied by her friend, who did not stop watching him with an inquisitive look. They both kept their distance, for the first time they were face to face. Both prisoners of their fears, they looked at each other for a few moments that became uncomfortable. Neither dared to be the first to speak.
Hello," said Sebastian shyly. Although they were adults, they looked like two teenagers. They exchanged smiles and Giselle, examining him with her eyes, also returned his greeting.
Sebastian didn't know what to say or do, he wanted to give her a hug, even hold her hand, but he restrained himself. Amanda was just as shy, she looked like she was going to have a panic attack. They slowly walked out of the place and headed for the parking lot.
On the way to the villa he had rented through Airbn, they remained in absolute silence. They gave each other brief glances, but each was absorbed in their thoughts. Was she disappointed? Did she not like him anymore? Was it all an illusion? Those were the thoughts they both had in those minutes that were becoming eternal.
He remembered her friend's words, that she thought she had gone crazy for giving so much trust to a stranger and establishing a long-distance relationship. He also felt a little crazy for everything he was doing just to meet the person with whom he initiated an emotional connection suddenly and by accident of fate.
She and He
They arrived at the villa, everything was in order. Giselle told Amanda to text her in case of any emergency. She replied not to worry, she could leave with peace of mind.
Sebastian grabbed the suitcase to place it in the closet and she tried to hold it too at the same moment. Their hands brushed and each felt a jolt of electricity that made them feel an uncontrollable desire.
They had spent so long wanting to be alone, at last, she and he were one step away from the inevitable. All the passion pent up for so long, embodied in long nightly chats, would overflow in that instant.
The desire of these two lonely souls that the whims of destiny made them cross, converging in that perfect moment. The first kiss came, suddenly, she thought it was he who took the initiative and he thought it was she who approached his lips. It was not clear to either of them, but that contact made his neurotransmitters start to flow and explode in his mind.
She was the madness that gave him the emotional stability he needed. Kisses, bites, caresses, skin. She and he, blinded by passion, gave themselves completely to each other for the next few hours, they didn't want to stop, they just wanted to unload all their feelings, making love as if there was no tomorrow.
They didn't even need to talk, they had already told each other everything during the year it took them to see each other. They seemed to have known each other all their lives. They spent the rest of the afternoon in each other's arms, their naked bodies under the sheets, looking at the beautiful coasts of Tenerife, through the large window of the bedroom.
The sun was setting, she fell asleep while Sebastian admired the beautiful sunset. He kissed her forehead before getting up carefully, so as not to wake her up. He went out to the terrace, he wanted to admire the beauty of the landscape, in those moments he felt the luckiest man in the world, there, asleep, was a wonderful woman who had changed his life completely. As he watched the night waves crashing against the reefs, he felt a fear again. What was he afraid of? Change? The unknown? The future?
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and a big smile came across his face. He felt Amanda behind him, who hugged him tightly. She leaned close to his ear to tell him something.... Dear passengers....
Queridos pasajeros....
The awakening
...Please prepare to land at Reina Sofia airport on the island of Tenerife.
The voice of the cabin crew member woke Sebastian up from the beautiful dream he had been living. The nerves he felt on the landings had disappeared, the fear he felt when he decided to make the trip to meet Amanda had also dissipated. All traces of insecurity vanished.
He saw her heading towards him, she was accompanied by her friend Giselle who began to examine him with her eyes. Without thinking twice, he rushed towards her, without giving her time to react he removed her mask and without caring what the rest of the world thought, he kissed the woman with whom he would make his dreams come true.
