Pablo's 18th birthday was only one day away. Many things had changed since the night of the black hens. What had happened was never spoken of again at home, but he always remembered it. His joy, enthusiasm and good humor began to fade, he was now a withdrawn young man, with a sad look in his eyes, he communicated little with people. In addition, his father, Amador, began to drink excessively. Every night he came home drunk. His grandmother was already old and sat looking at the mountains with deep regret. It seemed that after the visit of the old woman with the yellow teeth they had been robbed of their happiness.
The only thing Pablito liked was to be with his goats. They had more milk goats and his walks to the cave were daily, he liked to satiate his sexual desires, he did not know what it was to have a woman, he only knew his beloved goats. The boys in town made fun of him, they called him "el cojecabra" every time they saw him. Pablo didn't answer them at all and the girls didn't notice him, they thought he was stupid. There was no trace of that popular, cheerful and talkative boy of almost eight years ago, now he was just the fool that everyone pitied and others even despised.
That day while he was at the supermarket, where he sometimes worked bagging customers' purchases, a very elegant lady arrived accompanied by a beautiful young woman about two years older than Pablo. I had never seen such a beautiful girl before, you could tell they had just moved in. She was busy with her cell phone and while she and the lady walked around the small supermarket, Pablo kept following them with his eyes. When it was time to pay, the lady asked for all the bags to be brought to her. She lived 6 blocks away and Pablo was in charge of doing it. With a crestfallen head, he took all the groceries. He walked behind the lady and the girl. He was so amused watching her that when he reached the house, he tripped and dropped some of the products.
-Oh, I'm sure it's a wet blanket, boy- complained the lady.
-Calm down, Mom! He just tripped- replied the girl.
She bent down and helped Pablo pick up the products -Don't mind him, he's being brave! - She gave him a look and made a gesture that her mother was a little crazy. She started laughing and Pablo didn't know how to react, no girl had ever looked him in the eye and smiled before. -Eeeesoesoeso cojeeecabra- came the sound of mocking shouts. They were a group of teenagers who always picked on Pablo and at that very moment they were passing by on the other street -cojecabra cojeeecabra jajajajaja - they laughed cruelly. The girl looked at the mockers strangely. Pablo quickly took the tip offered by the lady and ran away. -What's your name? - He didn't listen, he just wanted to get out of that street, he was angry because he felt embarrassed in front of the most beautiful girl he had ever met.
He didn't go back to the supermarket. He went to the mountains where he felt at peace with nature. The taunts of the young men in the village echoed in his mind. She was crying in anger when she heard soft footsteps approaching, she turned quickly and realized it was a very pretty goat. It was not one of hers, she got up and approached the animal. The goat was tame, he grabbed it and immediately came up with his usual mischief. He took it to the cave. His secret shelter and little by little taming the goat he began to give it the "chaca chaca", that's what he called it. The animal was tamed, but when he finished his sexual mischief, the goat became violent, Pablo slipped and the goat bit him on the arms. Pablo shouted when he saw it was bleeding.
-Crazy goat! - he said trying to get up.
The goat stared at him from a distance. At that moment, Pablo realized that the animal had a mark just like the one on the coin that the old woman with the yellowish teeth had given him. Some soft noises were heard and Pablo was perplexed when he could see how from all the corners of the cave snakes were emerging and approaching with a threatening attitude. He was very frightened, but the snakes, which at first looked as if they were going to attack him, surrounded him. A huge one, which seemed to be the mother of all other snakes, rose up and opened its mouth, expelling a large amount of liquid in Pablito's face. Pablito began to scream in desperation and to wipe his eyes of the liquid that did not let him see anything. The snakes were gone, they had disappeared. He noticed that the goat was coming out and went after it. When he came out of his shelter he saw that the goat was running and reached the old woman's lap, it had been almost eight years since he had seen her, it was Doña Simona with her yellowish teeth.
-I hope you liked my gift- was what he heard.
