I ended up happy with this small piece even though it spent most of the day in the "ugly" stage of a paintings life...I feel like that's the hardest part to push through when you make abstract or contemporary art. It's always an experiment...sometimes it works, and other times I end up with something to paint over. I paint every day and somedays it comes so very easily, while other days I feel like I'm trying to solve the worlds hardest math equation using colors in place of numbers...but for me the important thing is to paint anyway and learn from the things I end up unsatisfied with.
