My first summer on my own. Columbia missouri. Slept on a mattress behind a couch in a basement apartment of a friends girlfriend. Walnut street right off of ash st. Played alot of saxophone that summer.
Ant man bee was the name of the band. We played distorted punk jazz multiphonic sax over hypnotic bass lines with washed out reverbed distortion.
We didnt have much money. Everything was bohemian poor student starving artist levels but they were some of the greatest days. We managed to cut a few recordings a couple of years later and you can still hear them on the web

The name of the band is from a song from Captain Beefheart and his Magic Bands album Trout Mask Replica. You would think thats an original band name but i believe i have found seven other examples of groups called ‘ant man bee’.
Thanks for checkin out the memory lanes. I may be 50 in a few days but i stay young at heart with a beginners mind. Face the music til you look forward to it. Life goes by like the shadow of a blade of grass at dusk. Live life. Art makes it worth while.
