Congratulations on your first creative nonfiction story, @walindo. You have a nice way with dialogue and storytelling.

I thought I would provide some helpful tips. Creative nonfiction has similar storytelling elements as fiction. And just like with fiction, readers want character development, a description of the setting, a good resolution to the story conflict, etc. In other words, you could develop this story further. It is very short and ends almost right after it begins! (We recommend a minimum of at least 750 words.)

Another tip is to use a grammar and spelling checker like Grammarly to make sure you catch errors before posting your story.

And finally, did you know that in The Ink Well we have a requirement for writers to read and comment on at least two other community members' stories for each one published? This ensures that we build a strong community, and that everyone gets personal comments on their work.
