What a remarkable story, @trifecta-tt. And how terribly sad! Thisbe should certainly have been allowed to use her herbal remedies. Back in the time she lived, there was deep suspicion about anyone who could be perceived as using witchcraft, and many people were tortured and killed as a result. In the U.S. it was quite a bit earlier, actually. The Salem witch trials occurred in the 1600s.
I personally love historical fiction and how it brings the past to life and reminds of the many phases society has gone through over time, as well as some of the most intriguing characters of the past.
