Wow, @rakushasu, this seemingly sweet, bucolic story took an unexpected turn! It really clips along, and it's so readable that I was lulled into a sense of contentment at the pleasant childhood memories of life on the farm... and then BAM. The story took a dark and very interesting turn.

“Make sure there’s never more than one of them!”

This line makes me shudder. Great story. Well done!
