What a beautiful yet sad and poignant story, @itsostylish. This is a story that made me utter the words "There but for the grace of God..." which is the expression that comes to mind when I recognize myself in a character. Perhaps we all have addictive tendencies to one degree or another, and whether we have the ability to control them. This character is devastating and tragic. But your writing is so lovely and lyrical that in the end my heart sings.
