I can immediately see why you and I connect, @gracielaacevedo! We had a similar relationship with our mothers, it seems. My mother also had periodic and sudden rants. They were so frightening when it happened! She was not a clean freak, so her rants were about other things — missing scissors, a child being late to get out the door to go to church, someone arguing with her instead of agreeing. All kinds of things.
In a literary sense, what mother reproduced from time to time was a monologue, an exposition of all women's work in the key of anger.
I love this line! I also loved how you took a mischievous glee in how she listed every single cleaning task she had completed in a given room, and how it gave you a full tour of your home without having to go to every space.
Your story resonated with me, and made me alternately wince and smile!
