This story touched my heart, @diikaan. All the thoughts and feelings you had while walking through the city are things that I think everyone feels at some point, especially around the holidays. It is a time of joy and yet the world is a challenging place. And spending time in the city means you are faced with all of those variations all at once in the people you encounter along the way.
