Okay, I’m kidding about the Utah Canyonlands. I’ll get to that. But I did start out the day with a beautiful walk in fresh snow in my snow shoes, followed by a few games of pickle ball at my gym.

It was my first time snowshoeing, and it was really fun. I think I may actually prefer it to cross country skiing. The reason is that you can go just about anywhere, even over fields and rough terrain. If you’re on skis, you really kind of need a track or at least a lot of open snow.

Today I walked through a marsh, on a tiny little single track trail that would have been unnavigable on skis.

Here are some pictures of the fresh snow, starting with my snowshoes in the snow!

Even though I hit the trail pretty early in the day, just as the snow was stopping, others had been there ahead of me, as it is a popular area for walking dogs. So it was not as easy as I hoped to find fresh untrodden snow.

But I went down one snow covered hillside following someone’s tracks, and they came to an abrupt end, so I continued on through the fresh snow.

I love to take nature pictures. I always find frozen cattails to be picturesque in the wintertime.

Everything is pretty after a fresh snowfall! I wish it would happen more frequently!

Here’s an example of a portion of the single track trail through the marsh. The snowshoes helped me navigate through just fine.

Okay, my next stop after taking off my snowshoes and getting back in the car, was my gym, which has drop-in pickleball on Saturdays. I didn’t really have a way of getting a picture of myself playing,

I grabbed a photo from the view window above the court. One of the guys pictured was really nice and gave me a lot of helpful tips while we played.

I still wanted more exercise, believe it or not, so then I went to the workout room and got on the elliptical machine and “hiked” for three miles. I say that because while watching a video route on the display.

That was my little joke about a hike in the Utah Canyonlands!

After that, I went shopping for groceries… and by then the sun had come out and it was really pretty at the end of the day, so I went back out for a walk around my neighborhood.

There were even some kiddos sledding!

So that’s how I got so many of steps today!

Thanks for visiting!
