We finally got some snow, and it was beautiful! But the temperature dropped precipitously.
Now, before I jump into the post, I just need to say a thank you to @tattoodjay for hosting the #wednesdaywalk tag, and
@elizacheng for hosting #makemesmile! Please check out these great initiatives if you haven’t yet done so.
Okay, on with the post. This is me, bundled up for my walk, and quite cozy and warm, even though it was only 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 Celsius).
And it occurred to once again that so many people dread winter. They fear being housebound. (And we have all had enough of that, haven’t we??) The only reason to fear winter is if you’re not prepared and you don’t embrace it!
Of course not everyone has a terribly cold winter like we do here in Minnesota. But a gray and damp winter can be even worse.
The key is to find ways to love it. And for me, this involves getting the right gear on and getting outside for fresh air and exercise, every single day!
The pictures I’m going to share are actually from two walks (yesterday and today) at the same park — plus some other winter fun.
I love winter scenes like this, with snow on the ground, and the sky looking so romantic.
So — how does one dress for such cold weather, you might ask?
Okay, here’s everything I had on, on top of the basic outfit of jeans, sweatshirt and warm socks:
It was really cold, but I was totally comfortable!
Back to pictures. Here are some sunset shots.
And here’s a picture of my friends posing for me. They joined me on the second walk, and we returned to the parking lot after dark and I thought they would look cool in the light of the street lamp!
But wait, there’s more. Because we are now in the darkest days, the sun sets before 5 pm! So all of the above happened before dinner time.
So what did I do when I got home? You think I poured a hot toddy and jumped in a warm bath to shake off the chill? Heck no!
I turned on the grill and cooked some steaks out on the deck! I was not ready to be back inside.
I hope this makes you smile! Here a photo journal of what it’s like to grill out in winter.
We don’t eat a lot of meat, believe it or not. But it is SO much better on the grill.
Thank you for visiting!
