Farmers market, summer food and kayaking - Actifit: July 3 2021
Today was a delightful day. First my daughter and I went to one of the farmers’ markets in the area. It was hot, so we got iced coffees.
I only bought three things because I have quite a bit of produce right now, and I always like to make sure I will use what I buy.
The bottle of pink liquid is a vinegar-based solution infused with strawberries and rhubarb. Evidently the typical use is for fancy cocktails, but I asked about using it to make a salad dressing, and the farmer said that would work too. So all the way home I daydreamed about salads I could make with it. I decided to use the beets I had purchased.
In the afternoon I rested on my porch and couldn’t help taking pictures of my geraniums again, because they really thrive in that spot and are in their prime.

Then I made some salads for a potluck picnic with friends. I wish I had taken pictures! The one with the beets and the strawberry rhubarb dressing was divine! I added squash from my garden which I had roasted, as well as chopped mint from my garden and crumbled blue cheese.
It was a big hit!
After that I went out to a lake home to meet up with friends. We had a beautiful dinner right next to the lake, and then two of us took out the kayaks. The other two were happy to sit on beach chairs.
