I got to have lunch with my sister, @ducksaplenty, today. My doctor’s office is right by her office building so I checked with her as I was heading into the doc’s office and it turned out she was available.
Like me, @ducksaplenty loves to walk. So after our lunch in the very nice cafeteria of her lovely building, we went strolling. It was cold! There was a little bit of a biting wind, and as you will see, most of the water has a frozen crust on it now. But the great thing about walking is that you are moving, and energizing your metabolism, which means you can usually stay warm.
Did I mention it was gorgeous out? One thing I have learned in my time in Minnesota is that natural beauty has almost nothing to do with sunshine or warmth. It is beautiful here on some of the harshest days of winter. But today was overall lovely, if you were dressed for it.
My sister and I are both very lucky with where our offices are located — right on walking trails!
Here’s another picture that shows the water. It looks quite frozen, and in a few more weeks it will be possible to walk on it. But is not ready yet. This is a very dangerous time of year because people sometimes trust the ice before they should.
Once it is completely solid, people will walk and drive on it. They will put up ice fishing houses and drill holes for fishing. Whole villages of ice houses pop up on the lakes around here!
That’s it folks! Thanks for stopping by!
