It's very common for us to just jump in the car and hit the road for the day. This is from one of those days about 8 months ago. Driving out on the country roads, just needing to escape and getaway. If we see anything of interest, and that could be honestly anything, just a nice view will do, we'll pull over to the side of the road to take some photos.
While out driving to the West of South East Queensland, Australia, we did just that. What caught my eye was the VERY dry grass from the relentless drought we had been going through against the bright blue sky. The sun was shining in just a way that it was hitting the very brown, dead-looking grass giving it a golden colour. You can see why all our farmers had to sell off their stock, as there is absolutely nothing for anything to eat out here. In reality, it was a very sad and dire situation for many of our farmers.
However, while standing there taking photos from the ground, we decided to send the drone up and have a look around, why not I say! We couldn't tell 100% what we were capturing as we were dealing with the glare from the sun hitting the screen but from what I could see, it looked really interesting. The lines of the fields, the cattle tracks from those who once roamed these lands and the incredible geography of the land. With it being so dry, from above it didn't look like we were on Earth any longer.

While the story behind these photos is very sad and a tragic reality for many in these regions, I think the photos are amazing. I couldn't believe how they turned out and what I saw from above. These lines and forms left behind are beautiful and different, it's the land showing its bare self, with all scares left by man, animal and mother nature.
The greatest thing about a drone is you can never really know what you're going to see, what you're going to find. Never when I sent it up this day did I ever expect to see anything like this. The photos are unusual but they tell a story of a time when a lot of farmers were suffering. The good news to the story is in the last few months we've been getting good amounts of rain... finally! Now after having had so much rain it would be great to go back out to this location and see what it is looking like now today.
