Me being a professional pencil artist and oil pastel paint artist, I decide to give chalk pastel a try a while ago.
It took me a little while to guess the right colours to mix in order to achieve the appearance for one fruit. No matter how challenging the situation was, I still arrived at giving each fruit on the portrait a suitable look. Judge it, do they seems to appear well?

The start of it was not really challenging. All I needed was to get my carton wood board surface ready and a number of sellected colour that will help the fruit appear nice and real.

Then making my sketch on the surface visible before applying the chalk pastels. Here I made use of pencil. The pencil drawing on the surface comes in first. With this, the picture to be painted appears.

Having a good appearance on the surface doesn't take time really but only for professional users of the chalk pastel, which I don't used to be before now. It requires creativity, time and courage to apply several colours with the aim of having the desired look. Trying one and not having the desired? Thence another comes in. Here is when the knowledge of colour mixing comes in.
Let's have little fun with this colour mixing meme 馃憞( you'd laugh if you understand)

One try and another, one mixing and another gives the required result. Mistakes can't be avoided but good artists turn mistakes into beauty. A kind of beauty that even fellow artists won't notice looking at the final result.

So I decided to do the fruit chalk pastel painting because I needed to draw something very colourful and attractive so selected my best fruits and I hope you like the outcome.
