*Today, everyone knows that time is measured from the Greenwich meridian which passes through London, but what many don’t know that in the years before the world turned Eurocentric, the meridian of the world was in India, passing through Ujjain which is located in the junction of this meridian and the tropic of cancer which shrine of Mahakaleshwar stands in Ujjain as the testinomy of this fact.
*Mahakaleshwar is lord of time, not just Indian Georgraphers but even Greek geographers like Ptolemy make the mention of the Ujjain in the map as a scene and Ujjain’s zero meridian. In the 17 century Rajajaysingh built his observatory called Yantra mahal in the line of this meridian.
*Way back in 500 BCE Aryabhata scholar wrote in his books Aryabhatiya about the four cardinal cities on the earth along the equator. He clearly stated when it has sunrise in Lanka, the same sun sets in Siddhapura and its noon in Yamakoti and midnight in Romaka, other prominent scholars like Bhaskara, Lalachariya repeatedly speaks of the Indian zero meridian of Ujjain and the time zone concept of the world with the Indian meridian at its centre.
They understood and applied the meridian and relative measurement the four different timezone periods on the earth & the respected position of day & night and this was 1500 years ago.
