Hello everyone, and especially the SurfHive Community! It's Jasper, the musical-surfer dad from Cape Town in South Africa.
The summer heat is upon us! The kind of heat that made me want to surf no matter what the conditions were, just so I could wallow in the "fresh" water temperatures you get here in Cape Town!
I expected the surf to be quite rubbish, choppy and small with wind-swell and a slight onshore wind at the reef that I visit quite often, but it was actually pretty pleasant as well as being refreshing!
It wasn't absolutely tiny, and pretty clean...
Here's a 3-shot sequence of a goofy-footer enjoying a clean left as I paddle back out after one of my own...
Here's two photos to show the goofy-footer catch the wave and get to his feet...
I caught my share - but unfortunately my POV photos are pretty awful because I was surfing right into the searing setting sun - still hot at 6pm in the evening!
So a lovely evening to remind me to just go surfing sometimes - some of the local reefs are defined enough to still be fun in less-than perfect conditions.
I'm hoping we get a real swell soon - I still need to keep my New Year's Resolution going and find a new wave to surf in November! I will let you know when I do!
BYE FOR NOW!
