Once upon a time, when I was 5 years old, in a nursery 2 class, I was flogged for no reason in my school.
It all happened one day when my class Teacher came late to school and as usual the pupils were playing and making noise in class.
I was at the entrance of my class block waiting for my Teacher but she wasn't forthcoming. I got tired and suddenly decided to go back to my class. I started marching back to my class, as in swinging my arms, throwing my legs and singing alongside and saying words like 'rubbish', 'stupid', 'nonsense'.... playfully....not knowing A Teacher was standing by my side and heard when I called out the words.
Immediately, he turned towards my direction and said, "hey! Come here", you are insulting me.....I was shocked. I said ,"no uncle, I was just singing". The Teacher grabbed me and forced me into my class, took a cane and flogged me seriously....I cried and cried and cried....
It's so funny how I remember these things......I still cannot explain why it happened that way....I guess such is life....
