Happy Thursday, #monomad! It's another day full of positivity as we take off for another journey through life. Gladly, Mr. Sun showed up today, which made me happy. I wondered how the earth would be if it's black and white? Will it be weary each day? Anyway, it's another day to showcase black and white photography. This time is another kind because my entry is about calligraphy.
This post will be my entry for #Monomad challenge and you can check the rules in the given if you want to join.
I was impressed by the melodic calligraphy in many styles by various artists when I visited City Rhymes in HKMOA one weekend. I love calligraphy, so occasionally, especially when I'm inactive and bored, I'll just grab a pen and some paper and doodle calligraphy and random figures.
That day, I came across a room with displays of large calligraphy with designs in memory of Chinese characters and Hong Kong community. A massive facade covered in Chinese calligraphy can be seen in the photo below. Each character shows drawings of well-known Chinese individuals and landmarks.
You can check photos posted on Liketu and see if you know those people. In all honesty, I am not familiar with them, except for some that resemble popular action stars like Jackie Chan. On another facade are more likely collections of Chinese landmarks drawn in each calligraphy character. Some portray Chinese culture and tradition. However, I forgot to take a closer shot of the calligraphy
on the other wall, but you can zoom out the photo above if you want to.
The photorealistic design on a big canvas is a nostalgic scene of Hong Kong's old quaint street, showing different calligraphy on shop signs and plaques. Meanwhile, on another canvas shows tangled calligraphy. People who don't appreciate art won't appreciate the creativity shown in the tangled canvas. But only those who can read Chinese will understand the written characters.
That concludes my entry for the #monomad challenge. You can check this post if you want to join.
Thanks for stopping by.
