Hello friends.
I was recently fascinated by the creativity the community members showed in their Artwork for the last Holozing contest: Backgrounds for Creatures. The choice of the winners was very accurate, in their artworks you can appreciate a display of skill and imagination that enriches and awakens the excitement for the game before launch.
You know that I am not an illustrator, just a self-taught apprentice. I'm passionate about writing fiction, and I gave up video games a long time ago. But Holozing has reawakened my childhood passion for drawing. It has also stimulated the desire to return to the world of video games.
Recently, I read a post from one of the co-founders about his (unofficial) thoughts on how the game will be released, explaining briefly some features and combinations of elements of the initial packages. I confess to you, I have a lot of doubts if I will be able to become a competitive player. I said to myself, that I needed to read a manual or watch a tutorial of a similar game to get my bearings and not fail in the attempt.
Well, I think I'm drowning in a glass of water. I'll just wait for the release and follow the updates about it. In the end, the goal is to have fun.
Back to the purpose of this post: the Holozing Fan Art. I want to show you my last creative exercise based on the fire wolf. This time I set out to recreate him about his lair. We all have a home, and of course, I think the fire wolf does too.
Another confession, the initial idea was to draw the fire wolf next to the ultimate healer's partner on a hillside, but as I progressed through the sketch I progressively changed my mind when I connected with the flaming creature's gaze. She said, follow me home. So, the female version of my healer will have to wait until I study better how to draw the curvaceous body of women and the volume of the hair.
Here are some snapshots of the evolution of the creative process. First, focused on my version of the fire wolf (the protagonist), and then, drawing something random about the environment of the den, of course, trying to respect some notions of perspective, shadows, and lights. In the end, I signed with my nickname to the leg of the tree, I know that some unscrupulous people are reusing the works of others without due authorization, even usurping their authorship.
CREATIVE PROCESS
Sketch
In four small sheets, as the crow flies, I sketched the posture of our protagonist and the tentative scenario.
Line Art
After outlining it, I realized, thanks to my daughter, that my wolf had a cat's tail. Lol
The front legs were too long, so I shortened them to make it more natural.
I thought an upturned nose would give him some distinction, as well as a look that makes contact with the viewer.
Inking
(Reference)
However, the figure expresses a slight difference. I wanted the color to be faithful to the original. So, from the reference, I got the precise colors.
Background
The lair
I chose a cave, in the middle of the forest. I don't know if it will be their natural habitat, but more when bears also use them to hibernate and can compete for these.
Well, being a fire wolf, for sure, the interior of the cave would contain a permanent fire that would disturb the bears' sleep. Lol
ARTWORK
Yet another artwork to delight me, in my virtual showroom. I want to show off a bit: my wife is amazed at the progress of my digital drawing technique. Of course, I know I still have a long way to go, but little by little I will continue to improve this beautiful art by the hand of Holozing.
I hope you like it too.
Greetings.
