A little background on how Steem Summit came to be.
I asked Steem Summit's Overall Head and Exhibit Manager, Kim Yba帽ez (@ybanezkim26) on how this event was brought to life and this is his response.
When we had a meet up last Sinulog, @jassennessaj approached and gave me an idea of having an activity that could cater the increasing number of steemians in Cebu. It was crudely called a convention then. I had an idea of having a different avenue for steemians to convene which is unconventional from the usual meet and greets.
When I opened to @legendarryll and @thegaillery about the idea, they embraced it and said that it would like Steemit in real life. It will celebrate every kind of passion and talent that Cebuanos can offer. That's what makes Steem Summit different from the usual meet ups.
There were a lot of meetings and online discussions on how to make the event the first of its kind. Then we came with the idea of calling it SteemitCon. We thought of making it big! A convention! But when we approached @themanualbot and the core leaders of @steemph.cebu, many things were changed and accorded with the demands of Cebuanos.
It was @themanualbot who submitted the proposal to @donkeypong, who made a very valuable input. He said the SteemitCon is not a good name. We had a problem of finding another name that could fit @legendarryll's branding. While searching for cool names for the event, an old idea which was familiar to me came to mind (I guess you know what I mean). I said why not apply it to the event? When I suggested it to the group, @legendarryll liked it because it has no conflict with any other names and brands. Then the rest is history.
TL;DR I didn't thought about Steem Summit. It was a collaboration of many great minds. I'm just a de facto leader. Not by right. Haha
