I would begin this by saying colonialism did more good to Africa than harm, one of the greatest thing I consider done by
the whites is the introduction of formal education to many parts of Africa ,I would have loved to argue that the white
man brought both formal and western education , but that will just be too plausible . I know most of my readers would
not agree to the fact that the whites brought both formal and western education, but then, I believe you will all concur
to the fact that the early proselytizers were effective in teaching both western and formal to all the nooks in Africa, as
they fecundated the gospel and its teachings. Going by this, I would want us to imagine how Africa would have being
without the whites introduction of education, education has being the key to success right from time, and the whites helping Africa in achieving success makes colonialism good.
I would love to emphasize boldly that colonialism brought to Africa “civilization” which I consider one of the greatest
good Africa can ever acquire, imagine how Africa would have been without being civilized? Imagine the times when
humans were used as sacrifices to appease the gods in times of war and disease outbreak? Imagine a situation where we were all not entitled to any rights.
The coming of the white man to Africa brought us trade. With Africa indulging themselves in profitable trade with the
white made Africa grow, its true Africa had gold, diamond, petroleum and other resources but of what use is it to Africa
with no one to help utilize it to trade them with what we were really in need of. Africa had petroleum, fine, but of what
use is it without the white’s help in making it useful. Having listed, I wouldn’t want to be sentimental or bias. The white
also brought harm to Africa, part of which is:
Slavery: colonialism also brought along with it slavery, this alone caused Africa great pain.
The effect of slavery outweighs the infrastructures they built or they roads they made, the white bringing slavery to
Africa is one the things I feel Africa would never be free from, imagine the situation in Libya where human beings are
being sold and
Also I would like to say that the influence the white also brought can also said to be one of the harm of colonialism.
The white coming to Africa makes us not to be able to see anything good amongst ourselves, we rely on almost all they
do which makes us not to be able to move forward in creating things we would also benefit from, colonialism influenced
Africans mentality which is “anything which is not from the white is bad”.
