In every situation, there are two ways to look:
1- We can look for the bad...
Start to criticize, ourselves and others. Picking out any flaws to elaborate on them, describe them, emphasize them. We might start up a commentary, saying that the person isn't doing enough, that they should work on this or that, that this would really help them, even though we don't know their life and what they are dealing with. Even when it's ourselves we are thinking about.
We can see the bad in all the problems the world faces, the pollution, war, the wealth disparity. We can emphasize how bad everything is, how screwed we all are, how the world is getting worse, and worse, and worse... We can despise the politicians, the oil companies, the corporations.
We can embrace our love to hate, or...
2- We can look for the good...
Finding the beauty in each person. The love that's always present, even when someone is struggling. We can see how they've overcome so much, how they have a lot on their plates. We can see them in their individuality, in their freedom to choose. We can look deep within them.
We can find the good in the world, the slowing rate of war, the increasing awareness of the problems our planet faces, the increasing innovations and technology that could be used for good. We can look for those silver linings that are everywhere, seeing how if we just adjusted a bit we would be on the road to love and abundance and fun. We could see how people in power try to keep power, just like we try to keep power, and once we find a way to surrender, we can lovingly help them do the same.
There are two ways to look at things, in a positive light, and a negative light. Life tends to give back what we give in our perceptions of it. That's why I'm committed to seeing the good in things, the positives, even if sometimes I struggle with myself. Even if I end up being negative as an old dying habit, I just catch myself doing it and say no more.
Do you find yourself overly negative towards life, always looking for the bad and expecting the worst? Or are you upbeat and ready to boost your scene up, cheering up people and loving everything you come into contact with? Right now it's a mix for me, but I always try to watch for when I'm turning negative. How do you turn things around?
As always, thanks for reading,
