I wanted to share this quick little doodle I finished today. While I was walking home earlier, I spotted the most adorable tabby cat wandering around the neighborhood. He was so incredibly fluffy and cute, I just couldn't stop looking at him. As soon as I unlocked my door and reached home, I quickly opened up my PenUp drawing app to capture him before the memory faded, which you can see in the doodle I uploaded above.
I must admit, my favorite part to draw was his gorgeous tabby patterns. I spent a lot of time layering those little dark strokes all over his coat and up his long, fluffy tail to give him that textured, furry look. But what really stole my heart in person were his little white feet they looked exactly like he was wearing a tiny pair of socks right? hahaha. It's unbelievable how a simple walk home can turn into the perfect spark of inspiration and I just love it.
I chose a soft, warm peach color for the background to make his gray fur and white paws really pop out. Capturing animals in motion is always a fun little challenge, especially when you're trying to keep the sketch feeling spontaneous and full of life.
