Welcome aboard! I'll delegate some resource credits to help you get started. I don't write a lot about history myself, but I listen to history podcasts a lot, and read widely. Unfortunately, African history rarely gets coverage outside of Egypt and the Roman empire in the North, and relatively modern European colonialism across the continent over the past few centuries. The History of Philosophy podcast has a series specifically about history and philosophy in Africa, at least.
