I had an urge for a walk in the woods yesterday evening after work, and it started raining while I took my stroll. The result was wet trousers and muddy boots, but I also got some interesting photos of assorted fungi. I don't know what any of these are, and I do not recommend snacking on strange toadstools!

This one is a beast. It has to be about 6" (15 cm.) across. I turned on the camera flash and tried to get a shot of the underside. Here's the best I could do:

The next specimen is very different. This little guy has a thick stem and a very bulbous cap.

I found this small white mushroom with a fairly flat cap hiding in the grass and weeds. This was small, perhaps 1-1/2" (4 cm.) across at most.

There were also a number of small white mushrooms with rounded caps and a spiky texture. These were also fairly small.

If you know what any of these shrooms might be, feel free to leave a comment below! I leave you with this neat photo of the remnants of an old mossy stump. At least, I think it's neat. Your mileage may vary.
