There was considerable excitement yesterday as an abandoned house near the library burst into flame! I didn't get a photo from when the roof was wreathed in orange and the nearby tree was intermittently sputtering with tendrils of fire, but I did get a shot after the firemen began getting things under control.
Of course, a small town begins to explode with gossip whenever an event of any note occurs. Was it arson? An insurance scheme? Is the city intentionally letting this eyesore burn down? Or did the owner offer the property as fire department practice instead of conducting a traditional demolition?
Whatever the case, the fire crew kept the fire from spreading while everything burnt down into a pile of rubble and ashes.
The ashes are still smoking 24 hours later. Eyesore or landmark, it's gone now.
