The last few days have been rough. I have been distracted with other things going on in real life. Not to vaguepost, but I'd rather not go into that right now. Instead, here is a mishmash of odds and ends I couldn't make into complete posts.
I am still working on my war game bunkers, and I am finding new ways to adapt and modify the Maelstrom's Edge bitz. I love those kits. Use as intended, or hack them apart and do new stuff instead!
I tried another odd brew. This stuff was very mango, and not much beer. Too sweet. Not a fan.
I have also been updating a few of my old EDH decks for Magic: The Gathering while sipping the above beverage. EDH is an abbreviation for Elder Dragon Highlander. This format uses a 100-card deck where one legendary creature is kept aside with special rules for play as a commander, and the other 99 cards other than basic lands are all unique, so "there can be only one." Initially, the commander cards were all elder dragons. Thus the original name. When Wizards of the Coast decided to officially support the format, they called it "Commander," and that is why people use EDH as shorthand for Commander. Hopefully that was clear.
Anyhow, I have tweaked @generikat's favorite elemental landfall deck, and I am dabbling in refinements for several others. It's a surprising challenge to come up with 65 or so unique cards for a deck that properly synergize for consistent play. Usually about 1/3 of a deck is basic lands, but that Omnath deck is almost 1/2 land cards due to exploiting lots of bonus land drops if all goes to plan.
I'm already working on my next Magic Monday post. Opening packs is fun. Stay tuned!
